Abhir questioned. With his question, as Vaanya's face lit up, his heartbeat as well lit up in his rib cage. He was scared. Afraid that she might not be as enthusiastic about it as he is.
Definitely, he can't decide that. Whatever is her will would be his order, because he's not the one to carry them.
However, just out of curiosity, he asked that question which was still as depressing as it shouldn't be.
Vaanya's dim face was lit up as stars shining in the sky on a clear night. A good sign for Abhir that helped him release the breath he was holding.
"Of course," she chirped excitedly. Getting off his chest, she sat opposite to him. Folding her legs, her right knee was now onto his left thigh, and her left leg was just folded under the right one in a criss-cross manner.
"I always wanted to have kids of my own. Wanted to be pregnant. Enjoy my pregnancy with my husband. Surprise him with the news. Throw tantrums all the time and get myself all the Queen treatment till I carry the baby,"
And the way she narrated caught him off guard. As if, she was never gloomy just a moment ago. All her worries dissolved in the air.
A surprised chuckle escapes Abhir's lips. He exhales in relief at her reply. Positive. It's all positive.
"But—aren't you too young to have kids right now?" Abhir genuinely showed concern.
"The younger, the stronger, the better," Vaanya winked at him instead in response.
"Really? You amaze me a lot everyday," he chuckled.
"You haven't seen my full potential yet, hubby," and she winked again. Abhir bursted into fits of laughter at her cute, silly, child-like facial expressions all the time.
"Look at yourself. You still haven't learnt how to eat something without giving a taste of your food to your clothes. You still can't walk properly. You keep falling or bashing into walls or pillars or just any object on the floor all the time. And you want a kid at this age? Sorry my baby Birla, but I'm not helping you with this," Abhir shook his head with a clung sound by his tongue.
"Wha—then who's gonna help me?" She innocently questioned, as her mind didn't even reach where Abhir was thinking. She thought he was plainly talking about her being walking blindly or eating messily, and somebody's gonna help her with that.
"Vaanya—" his eyes bulged out. "Wh- what do you mean- I- you idiot girl-" Abhir clicked on her forehead with his index finger and thumb.
"What? How can you physically assualt me?" Her face turned crying. She rubbed her forehead where Abhir clicked his fingers in annoyance.
"If that's assualt na biwi ji, then I just tell you, when you threaten me with—killing me with a knife, stabbing me, shooting me down, throwing me off the balcony. What are those? Those are real assaults," and he clicked his fingers one more time on her forehead.
"You—" Vaanya cried louder this time. "I didn't do all those to you, but you literally did this with your fingers on my head, that's assualt," she hollered while still massaging her forehead.
"Sahi kehte hain papa. Biwiyon se behes karna hi bekar hai kyuki end me, ho ya nahi, but galti mard jaat ki hi hoti hai. Or jitni jaldi kubool liya jaye, utna sahi hai varna kalesh karte raho sari zindagi," he mumbled to himself, deciding to just give up as soon as he started to pick up the physical fight with her.
"Acha idhar aao, biwi ji," Abhir consoled, motioning her to come and lay on his chest like before.
Although she gave him a stern stare, but later gave in and lied down on his chest, hugging his waist.
"I'm sorry," he still apologized for the fun.
"Oh? Good good husband, good. You're learning to say sorry for no reason? I like that," and suddenly, he noticed the shift in Vaanya's tone. From upset to all delighted in a second, as if this is what she wanted to hear.
What an actor!
But Abhir still laughing, knowing this was going to happen anyways, he enjoyed this. No lies. This is the sole fun he has in life.
Her being dramatic all the time, and him, just being there, and watching her with love filled eyes. Perfect! It's heavenly.
"By the way," drawing circles on the back of his palm of other hand, Vaanya commences.
"Hmm?" He hummed. His chest vibrated that somehow managed to excite Vaanya at his manliness.
"Does... Does Isha still think that you're the father of that baby, Samyukta?" She questioned out of the blue.
"I guess," he guessed. "It has been long since I contacted her. But why?" His brows creased at her query. Abhir slothfully caressed her arm with the hand that was circled around her shoulders.
"No, just like that," she kept playing with his veins during the conversation, with the indolent energy of her pitch.
"Are you—jealous perhaps? Or something? Like- please share with me if something is bothering you about that," Abhir calmly questioned, taking the matter seriously but thoughtfully.
"No no- I'm not jealous. I know the situation. Why would I be jealous for that?" She chuckled, raising her neck up to look him in the eyes and prove her honesty with that smile.
"Then what is it about?" He asked, concerned.
"No like—since you mentioned about kids. We both know, someday or the other, we're gonna have— have-" she gazes up at him again. Her lips pressed in a thin line as her cheeks heated up.
Abhir blurted a chuckle at her reticence about the topic.
"Have our kids?" He completed for her.
Vaanya nodded fervently. Abhir laughed out loud this time. Pinching her cheeks, he asked her to go on with what she was saying.
"So, since Isha isn't really that well. She needs to focus on studies as well. I agree, the nanny you sent for both of them must be a good help, but don't you think it's still less? They don't have a family. Kriti's parents' migrated to another country and abandoned their sick daughter and granddaughter by themselves. So, I was thinking if—"
She took a pause to take a deep breath. Looking up at him again, her brows rises again.
"If we can buy a small apartment for the three of them around us? So I can also get to see and meet Samyukta, as well as Isha. We can also personally get Isha to the psychiatrist. Sometimes, when maa is free, she also gets bored and has nothing to do to kill her time. That way, she can also play with Samyukta if no one has a problem with that?"
Vaanya nervously suggested. Trying to read Abhir's expressions, she got up from his chest and carefully ran her gaze all over his face, until he sat with a straight, neutral face.
"Vaanya I—" Abhir exhaled. His face finally reveals a few emotions of surprise. "I fail to understand you sometimes, Vaanya. How can someone be so thoughtful and generous?" His hands rose in air, and then dropped on his thighs in amazement.
"Like—I could have done it years ago. But it never occurred to me. You're so thoughtful, Vaanya. And why not? If you don't have a problem with anything, then I'll do everything you ask for," he exclaimed with an excited smile and a nod.
"Why would I have a problem if I'm the one suggesting it, you bhoole bhatke bhandari," she laughed, and then threw her arms around his neck to give him a tight, squeezy hug.
And soon, within three days, Isha and Samyukta were migrated from their previous home to here, in Varanasi. An apartment that Abhir brought for them on the 2nd floor, in a society, just 500 meters away from their bunglow.
The building consisted of total 15 floors, but Abhir managed to get the lowest one for them for their convenience.
"Sir, Isha, Samyukta and their Nanny, Mrs. Sheetal Mukherjee have been safely relocated to their new apartment. Isha's psychiatrist in here, Mrs. Sahiba Kaur, has also been appointed. The hospital is in her locality itself, so she wouldn't have to travel anywhere else than stepping down and walking a little in her own estate to reach the infirmary. That is all."
Revanth dictated everything in a single breath to Abhir who has finally joined office, officially after almost two months of his accident.
"Also, about Viva—"
"Abhi, medicine time ba—" Vaanya without looking anywhere, just barged in the room with all her focus on the small bottle and few packets of medicines.
But she halted only when, when then Abhir coughed harshly as soon as he realised what she was about to call him.
Correction. Call him for the first time. Baby or babe, whatever came to her mind.
'Why do you always have such worse timings, my lady? I would have melted hearing baby from your mouth for me, but in front of Revanth? Oh god—'
He internally cried.
Vaanya looked up to find Revanth standing right in front of Abhir's desk with an awkward smile.
But to make it less awkward, Vaanya used her brain this time. Or maybe, she used her brain more than she had the capacity to use it.
"Revanth? You've become so shameless. You're eavesdropping openly? So bad," she tsk-ed with her tongue, shaking her head in denial, acting all cool.
Revanth pressed his lips in a thin line to stifle his laughter that Vaanya caused. Abhir just face palmed himself in embarassment.
'Ye banegi mere bacchon ki maa. Bohot badhiya. Pagal khandaan banayege hum dono milke,'
And ignoring Revanth's presence, she nonchalantly walks past him with the medicines she had to give one by one to Abhir.
But Revanth didn't waste his time. When Abhir caught his eye, he told all about Vivaan and Harsh just with one action.
Revanth pulled out his right hand in air, secretly away from Vaanya's gaze as she was reading something on the medicine's description. And with his hand, he firstly opened his fingers, and then closed then shut in a tight fist.
Meaning, they have gotten hold of Vivaan and Harsh, and that they are now captured.
Abhir did wish to smile triumphantly at the news, hug Revanth for his hardwork, but he couldn't. With a nod, Abhir appreciated him, and Revanth vacated the room.
'Finally.'
Abhir looks up at Vaanya's face who stood beside his chair, focused on reading the medicine's salts on Google. She even doubted the doctors? Great.
'Finally you'll see the culprits die right in front of you, Vaanu. They'll die the death you'll wish for them. And I'll make sure, I kill them both with my own hands in front you, so you can live with peace. And the culprits of your best friend will finally find their way to hell.'
Abhir smiled at her when she turned to him.
"All good. I was just checki—"
Vaanya couldn't complete the sentence as she was held by her wrist, and directly landed on his lap on the chair. Her back tightly pressed against his chest. His arms circled around her waist, and his chin resting on her right shoulder.
And since he was happy for obvious reasons, he wanted to have some playful time with her.
"Tell me, baby," he deliberately called her baby to remind her of the embarassment.
